I Tried Not To Cry

I tried not to cry

I held captive my soul

When it came I tried,

To sink it a hole

When the tears do come

They come with a fight

They come not welcome

They come in spite

I see old men, they cry

Their tears water their grave

I see old men, they die

Where flowers grow, from the tears they gave

Now, I let go

Where my tears can run free

And now I can show

How happy I can be

My tears rarely fall

In cause of sorrow

Instead they fall

For others to barrow

I find my tears

Being of joy

It had taken years

Years I destroyed

I can cry and cry again

For these tears are happy

And happy I can
