Throughout my youth I have tried to articulate and construct different ideas that will make me money, but ultimately make myself, those around me, and eventually everyone, happy. I know it sounds very broad, boring and well, impossible. But how I think of it, is if I can build something which promotes happiness and positivity, people will be forced to return. Kind of like a drug; but a healthy drug.
Whenever I spend time in my head, attempting to conjure something unique, in hopes of turning heads and opening ears, I always become triumphed by similarities already fashioned in the past. But maybe I don't need to focus on the new, but rather making the old even better: evolution. This is the same for everything in life; evolution is a sequence of building blocks based off past models. Also, so much good has previously been made, so adding to what is already here could be just as important as creating something brand new. But, the human mind is always searching for the new, and tends to get bored with the old. People want something they have never seen before, so an addition to any finished concept would have to be significant.
It is so difficult to get people to pay attention in today's society; with so many distractions and such easy access to what we are individually interested in. This is not necessarily a bad thing; I view it as a filter. For an idea or person to become popular, they need to successfully be more interesting than the majority of the internet.
With all of this in mind, I continue to ask myself, "What makes people return?" And on top of joy, I believe community and depth encourages a rejoice in emotion and attraction. Community gives individuals a place to fit in with a healthy amount of people who have shared values. And depth gives people room to explore with their communities, or individually. If I can promote the birth of communities and give these groups the platform to learn and grow, encouraging connections with different communities, then a chain reaction will ignite; more communities, more depth, and more connection. The reaction is endless.
Humankind is interesting; we are capable of so much love yet so much destruction simultaneously. I believe the reason for this destruction is because we are stuck in a mindset in which we have convinced ourselves we are so much different than those who hold divergent values. Promoting a sense community between these groups can only result in connection and kindness.
Exposing oneself to different ideas, cultures, and experiences will change lives. This is where I introduce you to CuppingEars...
