EarCandy #4 - Trouble, Heartaches & Sadness by Ann Peebles

When faced with trouble, heartache, and sadness, many of us tend to bask in these feelings. Becoming stuck, stuck in our own mold of sorrow. Too busy feeling bad about ourselves and the positions we find ourselves in.

As Ann Peebles admits off the bat in Trouble, Heartaches & Sadness, that these dim feelings used to be good friends of hers; just like everyone else. We have all had points in our lives where being sad, mad, or troubled is what we needed. Absorbing the grimness can definitely be beneficial, and this is where life can teach you a lot in the hardest ways possible.

But there has to be a point of outgrowth. A point where we leave these emotions in pursuit of the betterment of our lives with the information we've taken from the hardships. And this point is a pivot; from some of our worst times in life, to some of the best.

Peebles deals with these sensations in what seems to be a very healthy manner. She views them as people: "Old Man trouble. Stop knocking at my door. You used to be a good friend of mine. Let me tell you, hang around me no more." (0:12-0:37). Once friends turned to an animus relationship when she realized she was frozen in pain. Because that's what pain does, it keeps you still, in your head, and unhappy.

The trick is knowing when to leave ill emotions behind. What have I gained from this? What more can I gain? When can I take what I have gained and put it under a different array of emotions?

What I am trying to say is it's not bad to sit in sorrow for a while. You just have to know when it's give yourself space in the relationship; so you can become the knowledgeable person you have achieved, and feel good being.

Who sang thw gambler? “You got to know when to hold ’em… know when to fold ‘em. Know when to walk away … know when to run.” I was humming this as I read. Love the wisdom.
