Our nature has always held a fast pace. So much to do, see, and experience; so we're always doing, seeing, and experiencing. And personally, this pace has become difficult for me to digest from time to time; encouraging me to bury myself in isolation in attempt to relax the tempo of my environment.
But here is my mistake: trying to control the uncontrollable. This life has countless moving parts; so many in which we have yet to even understand. Holding power over one entity allows another to run wild.
But what does Wayne's, Hustler Musik, have anything to do with this?
In so many ways is this song is a masterpiece. Start with the lyrics. It's not what Wayne says in this track that is amazing. It's how he says it. His ability to cover the same topics in a different way requires insane creativity and wit. But more importantly, it's the feeling of the song that is crazy. The tempo, the mood, the swagger. It's calming, vibrating, relaxing, violent. Your perception is what matters. For me, this song taught me that you don't have to control your environment; just how you perceive it. When I first listened to this song, it felt like my ears were walking on water. The best way to describe this track is that it is easy to listen to. It accompanied me in any way I needed.
I wake up anxious, in need of something to ease my mind. So I put on Hustler Musik while I brush my teeth. I relax.
I wake up happy, ready to take the day. So I put on Hustler Musik while I brush my teeth to hightin the feeling.
This song makes it pretty easy to perceive the same item (the song) differently under changing circumstances (your mood). But it has served as a vital stepping stone in shifting that ability into different aspects of my life. Having a control over the pace of my life has gotten me through the worst, faster. And prolonged the best, making it better. Pace is king. Don't slow the world, slow yourself. Time isn't important, our perception of time is.
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” ― Viktor E. Frankl
