There is a moment when tears are falling behind closed doors, that anyone listening can mistake the sound of crying for laughter. Without context, it might sound like a laugh, but it doesn’t take long to realize it’s the opposite.

Maybe it’s a reminder of how easily tears may roll into laughter. Maybe the two are more similar than we think. For after a long cry, I usually smile.
