DailyThought #15 - Black Gives Life Color

I walk into a dark room. Black is the most common color. Even in shades. The walls reflect nothing, stale in their appearance. And each object drops a shadow below it, filling the floor. My vision begins to tunnel and then I lose all sense of perception. I reach into my pocket and grab a matchbox. My fingers tap around the edges until I feel red. I rip the match across the surface, and there’s light.


The black filling the room fades into the center of the lit match; but I am not focused on the black anymore, I am focused on what has been uncovered through its absence: color. Color I can appreciate. Color that can be covered and uncovered. If the room was filled with color when I walked in, would I notice them?
