DailyThought #47 - Green Through My Window

I wake up trapped within the shade of my walls. My room is dark and my vision is groggy. I roll through the motions. Forgetting salt on my eggs and steps in my routine. I eat breakfast even though I don’t feel so good this morning. As I wait for time to take me to work, I am blinded by the sun coming through the window. I contemplate moving, but before I do, I look up. I tilt my head toward the sun filled window. Finding a kaleidoscope of leaving twitching in the breeze. Their color of green is highlighted by the sun’s light.

As the breeze dies down, the leaves sit still. And instead of moving spots, to a more shaded part of the couch, I sit with them. Through the crowdedness of branches and leaves, a baby blue sky offers contrast. Contrast that offers the individuality of bright red berries that hang off one bush, or the vibrant orange ones that hang from another.

I am taken away from the shade, and into the light. Now, as I leave the house, my head holds high, as do my thoughts.

Green through my window.

On my drive home every day, the sun sets in my rearview mirror. I can't help but turn my head behind me, losing focus on the road ahead of me. Colors mix within the clouds as I swerve left and right.
