DailyThought #40 - My Gift to the World

When I act under any facet of creativity, my body and mind naturally want to share it. I believe that is one of the most important steps in the creative process: sharing. Once it is released into the world, it is not your anymore, it is everyone’s. Everyone’s to judge, love, hate, and hug. By sharing your form of art, you release yourself from its imperfections. There is no more to change, no more to think about… it is not yours anymore.

Some of humanities best art rotted in an attic, burned it a fire, or was sold as dirt. Van Gogh never saw the sale of his art or met his acclaim. If it wasn’t for his sister-in-law, the world would have never seen his art. World renowned philosopher, Franz Kafka lived his life as a shy insurance worker. It wasn’t til after he died, that one of his good friends, Max Brod, ignored Kafka’s instructions to burn his manuscripts, and published them instead. We would have never known about Kafka’s work if his friend had followed his demand.

Release your work, it’s better for all of us.

On my drive home every day, the sun sets in my rearview mirror. I can't help but turn my head behind me, losing focus on the road ahead of me. Colors mix within the clouds as I swerve left and right.
